There is an ongoing debate among pool owners about which is better — indoor or outdoor swimming pools? Each one seems to have a following of staunch supporters who are certain that their preference is better than the other. We cannot pick sides, as we love them both! But we thought it might be fun to give some of our personal reasons why we love outdoor swimming pools. (Next time we’ll have to write a blog post on why we love indoor swimming pools—we have a list of reasons for those as well!)
- Sunlight. This actually encompasses a few things we love about outdoor swimming pools. You can work on your tan while you get your daily dose of Vitamin D. There is also just something really satisfying about being able to escape from the heat by jumping into the water.
- Outside Air. You can breathe easier around an outdoor pool and avoid any negative effects of off-gassing from the chloramines in the water. Sometimes it is just nice to be able to get outside and breathe in some fresh air.
- Relaxation. For this one you don’t even necessarily have to be swimming! Just relax next to the pool and soak up the sun while you read a good book and you’ve got an instant recipe for stress relief. If you do decide to go for a swim, combining the therapeutic nature of being in the water with the soothing effects of sunlight and fresh air brings an overwhelmingly relaxing experience.
What do you love about outdoor pools? Which do you prefer, indoor or outdoor? We would love to hear from our readers so post your thoughts in the comments!
